Today's Inspiration: Great Gardening Reference Book

I have to show you this gardening book. It is called Month-By-Month Gardening in the Mid-Atlantic. It is absolutely stuffed full of gardening information, tips, projects and solutions. You know how some gardeners seem to know exactly what needs to be done, and when? Well, I am not one of those. I am winging it most of the time. But this book lays it all out so anyone can be an expert in their own garden.

The book is divided into chapters for each type of plant: Annuals, Bulbs, Herbs & Vegetables, Lawns, Perennials, Roses, Shrubs, Trees and more. Then, within each chapter, the authors tell you month by month how to plan, plant, tend and troubleshoot. It's very easy to tailor your garden chores to the time of year as well as the particular plants you are growing. You'll know when to fertilize, when to prune, and what problem pests to keep an eye out for. What a great way to keep your gardening chores manageable and targeted to your particular plants. And even though the book was written for Mid-Atlantic gardeners, it will be a valuable tool to gardeners throughout the US.

The book also includes lots of interesting additional information, like how to build a cold frame, a list of "Outstanding Flowering Trees" and making rose potpourri. There's so much good reading, you may get sidetracked from your assigned chores!

Gardening in the Mid-Atlantic is written by Andre & Mark Viette with Jacqueline Heriteau. Andre and Mark are renowned horticulturists, lecturers and nurserymen. My copy is autographed by Andre Viette, and you know what- yours can be too. If you order this, or any Viette book from Yardlover.com, it will come to you personalized and autographed. What a great gift, and treasured keepsake. But don't put it away as a souvenir. There is too much good stuff inside this book. I predict it will become your "go-to" guide.
